PAN members oppose Luis René Cantú Galván's potential Reynosa candidacy

Internal opposition within the National Action Party (PAN) in Reynosa has raised concerns regarding the potential candidacy of Luis René Cantú Galván for mayor in 2027. Critics within the party claim that Cantú Galván, nicknamed ‘El Cachorro’, previously divided the organization and misused party resources for personal business interests during his tenure as a political leader.

Party members are calling for strict intervention in the candidate selection process to prevent favoritism and influence-peddling. They argue that Cantú Galván’s reputation has been damaged by alleged financial irregularities and that his recent social media efforts to coordinate an opposition movement in Reynosa are viewed as irresponsible.

State party leaders, including President Gloria Garza and General Secretary César Augusto Verástegui Ostos, are expected to carefully evaluate the selection of candidates for local and federal positions to ensure the party selects individuals with strong reputations.
