PAN party proposes climate adaptation measures for 2027 State Budget
The PAN party, led by spokesperson Inês de Sousa Real, has announced plans to propose a series of measures within the 2027 State Budget aimed at adapting Portugal's territory to climate change risks.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 'Climate Route' debate in Funchal, Real emphasized the necessity of developing a national 'climate risk map' to address increasingly frequent and intense extreme weather phenomena. She advocated for stricter land-use policies, specifically calling for an end to construction in floodbeds and primary dunes, and questioning the sustainability of water-intensive projects like golf courses.
The 'Climate Route' event, which brought together academics, politicians, and civil society, is set to continue with upcoming meetings scheduled for Porto, Lisbon, Setúbal, Coimbra, and Leiria.
