PAN prepares for 2027 elections with new candidates and alliance talks
The National Action Party (PAN) is positioning itself for the 2027 electoral cycle through internal candidacies and potential strategic alliances. In Puebla, Pilar Vargas Morán has formally registered within the party's internal process to seek the coordination of ‘Defensores de la Patria, Familia y Libertad,’ a step toward her goal of running for the mayoralty of Puebla in 2027. Vargas Morán, who has ties to former mayor Eduardo Rivera Pérez, intends to promote her candidacy alongside the release of her book, ‘La Ciudad que Mereces’.
On a national level, PAN leader Jorge Romero Herrera has expressed openness to forming coalitions with the PRI, Movimiento Ciudadano, and local political forces to challenge Morena in upcoming elections. Romero stated that alliance decisions will not be centralized but will instead be evaluated by state leadership based on local political conditions, specifically mentioning states such as Nuevo León, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Chihuahua. He also noted interest in political profiles like Grecia Quiroz in Michoacán as part of building a competitive opposition.
