PAN proposes ISR tax exemption for Mexican workers earning up to 12,000 pesos

The PAN parliamentary group in Mexico's Chamber of Deputies has introduced an initiative to exempt workers earning up to 1.25 minimum wages from the Income Tax (ISR). The proposal seeks to amend articles 96 and 152 of the Income Tax Law.

Federal Deputy David Azuara Zúñiga noted that an individual earning approximately 12,000 pesos per month currently pays about 947 pesos in monthly ISR. The initiative aims to allow these funds to remain part of the workers' disposable income to support family needs such as food, transport, or medicine.

Additionally, the proposal includes an annual update of tax quotas based on inflation to prevent nominal wage increases from resulting in a higher tax burden. This measure is part of the ‘111 Soluciones para México’ agenda promoted by the PAN national leadership.
