PAN warns digital tax retention threatens 300,000 MSMEs

The National Action Party (PAN) has warned that a 10.5% tax retention on digital platform sales puts approximately 300,000 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) at risk of extinction.

Héctor Saúl Téllez, the party's economic vice-coordinator, stated that these aggressive fiscal measures are forcing businesses to migrate to informal sales channels to maintain cash flow. The current policy includes an 8% VAT retention on gross sales for those using digital marketplaces.

Juan Carlos Cante, president of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Mexico, noted that 59% of MSMEs fail within their first three years, often due to a lack of liquidity. He emphasized that these businesses are responsible for 68% of job creation in the country.
