Panagiotis Giounis rises 27 places in table tennis world rankings

Greek table tennis player Panagiotis Giounis has risen 27 places in the ITTF world rankings, moving from 197 to 170. This improvement follows his performance at the European Championships in Slovenia, where he earned 45 points, marking his best single-tournament haul in the last year.

Giounis stated that he is now focusing on accumulating points for the Los Angeles Olympics. His upcoming targets include two Feeder-level tournaments scheduled for November in Germany and Poland.

While Giounis saw gains, other Greek international players struggled to earn points due to the ITTF ranking system, which only awards points to continental championship participants who reach the round of 16. Consequently, Giannis Sgouropoulos rose four places to 260, Giorgos Stamatouros fell four places to 331, and Katerina Toliou dropped 18 places to 331.
