Panama allocates $12.5 million for Herrera province hospitals

The Panamanian Ministry of Health (Minsa) has received $12.5 million in supplies and funding to strengthen healthcare services in the Herrera province. The contribution was facilitated through coordination between the Presidency of the National Assembly, Shirley Castañeda, and the Panamanian Embassy in Costa Rica.

Minister of Health Fernando Boyd Galindo announced that approximately $2.5 million will be used for temporary works at the Dr. Cecilio A. Castillero Hospital in Chitré to recover and adapt basic services. Long-term planning for a full reconstruction of the facility is also underway due to its aging infrastructure.

Additionally, an investment of nearly $10 million is projected for the recovery of the Sergio Núñez Núñez Hospital in Ocú. This project aims to provide necessary infrastructure and equipment to ensure quality healthcare for the local population.
