Panama announces U18 baseball roster as Colombia withdraws from Pan American Championship

The Pan American U18 Baseball Championship, scheduled for October 22–29 in the Dominican Republic, faces changes to its lineup. The Panamanian Baseball Federation (FEDEBEIS) has announced its official 20-player roster for the tournament. Managed by Rodrigo Merón, Panama is placed in Group C alongside Colombia, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The team will debut against Puerto Rico on October 22.

However, the Colombian Baseball Federation (FCB) has confirmed that its U18 team will not participate in the event. FCB President Jaime Antonio Char Navas stated the decision stems from a lack of government support for sports federations over the last four years. He also noted that current financial constraints following a major earthquake on August 10 have prevented securing necessary funding. The federation is in the process of officially notifying the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and WBSC Americas of their absence.
