Panama arrests Argentine national while Mexico customs warns of fraud

In Panama, the National Migration Service (SNM) detained a 48-year-old Argentine citizen in the Villa Lucre area. Although the individual held a valid provisional residence card, a background check triggered an alert for an active arrest warrant related to crimes against sexual freedom and integrity. The individual has been transferred to the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings.

Separately, in Mexico, the National Customs Agency (ANAM) has issued a warning regarding fraudulent communications. The agency reported attempts to impersonate officials to illicitly obtain payments or personal information via phone, email, and WhatsApp. ANAM clarified that its officials do not contact individuals to request money or manage customs procedures, and emphasized that all transactions must be handled directly by interested parties or authorized customs agents.
