Panama Banking Association reports shifts in international banking profits

During the XI Panama International Financial Summit, leaders of the Panama Banking Association (ABP), Ernesto Boyd and Carlos Berguido, provided updates on the International Banking Center (CBI).

Data from the CBI indicates that profits decreased as of July 2026, reaching 1,445 million, a decline of less than 1% compared to 2025. This follows a downward trend from 1,621 million in 2024 and 1,453 million in 2025.

Despite the dip in profits, assets and credits continue to grow, signaling the system's ongoing capacity to invest in the country and attract deposits. Total deposits in the CBI reached 121 billion dollars. Officials noted that while this figure is smaller than those of larger Latin American nations, the volume is significant relative to the size of the Panamanian economy and the international nature of the funds, which largely originate from non-resident foreigners.
