Panama Cabinet approves B/. 39.2 million credit for Social Security Fund

The Cabinet Council of Panama has approved Resolution 126-26, authorizing a supplementary additional credit of B/. 39.2 million for the Social Security Fund (Caja de Seguro Social, CSS) for the 2026 fiscal year.

The funds are intended to bolster the institution's operating budget, ensuring the coverage of priority expenses and the continuity of medical and administrative services through the end of the fiscal period. According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the financing will be sourced from available cash and bank balances held at the Banco Nacional de Panamá.

The proposal has received favorable opinions from the National Economic Council (CENA) and a technical viability report from the Comptroller General of the Republic. The MEF is now authorized to submit the resolution to the Budget Commission of the National Assembly for final approval and registration.
