Panama Canal Authority delivers property titles in Río Indio

The Panama Canal Authority has delivered 130 property titles to 575 residents in the Río Indio basin and surrounding areas. This initiative is part of the Cadastre and Titling Project in the Río Indio Watershed, which has issued a total of 2,201 titles to date to strengthen legal certainty regarding family assets and land tenure.

The process involved cadastral surveys, evaluations, and registrations conducted over several years. It is a collaborative effort between the National Land Administration Authority (ANATI) and the Panama Canal, supported by the Technical Support Unit (UTA) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Environment, and the Public Registry.

In addition to residential properties, several titles were allocated for community services, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the La Encantada Community Board, and the Diocese of Colón and Guna Yala. These include sites such as the Boca Chica or Nueva Esperanza School and the La Encantadita School cafeteria.
