Panama celebrates musical heritage with new band encounter and Oceano single
Panama's Ministry of Culture has announced the first 'Encuentro de Bandas con Piezas de Tamboreras Panameñas'. The event, held in memory of Professor Rufino González, is scheduled for September 19 at the Mariano Rivera Stadium. The gathering aims to preserve the nation's intangible cultural heritage and foster youth talent by featuring school music bands performing traditional rhythms like cumbión and tamborera.
In other musical news, the veteran Panamanian rock band Oceano has released a new single titled ‘Carta a la Vida’. As pioneers of Spanish-language rock in the country, the band is using this release to mark a new chapter in their four-decade career, blending their historical legacy with a contemporary musical perspective.
