Panama charity walks raise funds for cancer patient support

In Panama, major charitable walks are raising funds and awareness for cancer patients. The XXVII Susie Thayer Family Walk, organized by Fundacáncer, saw over 15,000 participants across various cities, including Panama City, Colón, and David. The funds raised are designated for the purchase of high-tech mechanical ventilation equipment for the Intensive Care Unit at the Instituto Oncológico Nacional (ION), aimed at improving patient safety and care.

Simultaneously, the Fundación Amigos del Niño con Leucemia y Cáncer (Fanlyc) is conducting its 27th annual ‘Relevo por la Vida’ (Relay for Life). This 24-hour solidarity event, held in Panama City, symbolizes the resilience of children undergoing cancer treatment. Fanlyc provides psychosocial support and financial assistance, including medication and transportation, for approximately 616 children and adolescents currently or previously in treatment.
