Panama conducts environmental cleanup and recycling drives

In observance of Ocean Month, various environmental and recycling initiatives took place in Panama. Volunteers and environmental representatives conducted a coastal cleanup at the mouth of the Juan Díaz River to remove waste carried by the river. Panamanian Environment Minister Juan Carlos Navarro noted that while the presence of garbage is a significant issue, there is growing awareness among young people regarding environmental protection.

Additionally, a recycling event was held at Andrés Bello Park in Panama City. The initiative focused on collecting materials such as plastic, glass, cardboard, and cans to promote their reuse and transformation into new products. Organizers reported collecting 385 kilograms of materials during the 2025 session, with goals to increase both attendance and collection volume in future events. The program included educational workshops on composting and proper waste management.
