Panama expands digital tools in schools amid internet gap

Panama's education system is increasingly integrating digital technologies across all levels, from universities to primary schools. Growth in internet access and mobile device availability has spurred the use of video‑conferencing platforms, virtual classrooms, interactive simulators, educational apps and artificial‑intelligence systems to make learning more flexible and engaging. These tools aim to improve student participation, enable autonomous study, and help teachers design innovative instructional materials such as videos, podcasts and infographics.

Despite these advances, a significant digital divide remains between urban and rural areas. Many families still lack reliable internet connections or adequate devices, limiting the reach of digital learning and highlighting persistent social inequalities.
