Panama Firefighters and SAMER reach salary agreement

The administration of the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Panamá and the Servicio de Atención Médica, Emergencias y Rescate (SAMER) have reached an agreement regarding salary reclassification and outstanding economic rights under Law 354.

The consensus follows three years of pending claims and recent demonstrations by the National Association of Technicians and Licentiates in Medical Emergencies. Key components of the agreement include the correction of erroneous figures previously submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the commitment to implement a salary scale for medical emergency specialists based on their institutional seniority.

To facilitate these payments, including bonuses and expired seniority benefits, the Ministry of Public Security has formalized a request for the transfer of funds and additional credits. Officials noted that the resolution was achieved through dialogue between the institution's leadership and representatives from all regional zones.
