Panama football team to play quadrangular in Japan ahead of Nations League quarters
Panama's national football team, coached by Thomas Christiansen, will take part in an international quadrangular tournament in Japan in early October. The squad opens the competition on 1 October against New Zealand at the International Stadium Yokohama, while the other semifinal pits Japan against Ecuador. The winners of the two semifinals will meet in the final on 5 October at Tokyo's National Stadium, with the losers contesting a third‑place match.
The Japanese tour is intended as preparation for Panama's November fixtures in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter‑finals. Christiansen, whose tenure was confirmed by the Panamanian Football Federation in July, continues the project launched in 2020, with a mechanism in place for the federation’s next executive committee to decide on his future without affecting finances.
