Panama hosts major dance events and ballet anniversary in September

Panama is hosting significant dance events throughout September 2026. The Ministry of Culture is organizing the National Dance Encounter (Encuentro Nacional de Danza), which will run from September 1 to 15. This initiative features seven national dance companies and collectives presenting ten different shows, including contemporary dance, flamenco, acrobatic dance, and experimental performances. Venues for these events include the Teatro Áurea “Baby” Torrijos, Teatro Ateneo, Teatro Balboa, and the Centro de Arte y Cultura de Colón.

In addition to the national encounter, the Ballet Nacional de Panamá is celebrating its 55th anniversary with a production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ set to Prokofiev’s score. This performance will take place at the historic Teatro Nacional in Panama City from September 3 to 6.
