Panama IMA maintains food aid for earthquake victims

The Agricultural Marketing Institute (IMA) of Panama will continue producing food bags for disaster victims and maintaining the operation of its 17 'Tiendas del Pueblo' (People's Stores). Following instructions from President José Raúl Mulino, the humanitarian aid program is targeting the provinces of Coclé, Veraguas, Los Santos, and Herrera.

IMA Director Nilo Murillo reported that approximately 43,000 food bags have been distributed so far, benefiting over 153,000 people in earthquake-affected areas. To facilitate delivery, the institute is deploying 100 pickup trucks daily across the four provinces, despite challenges reaching remote areas due to debris and difficult terrain.
