Panama and Dominican Republic launch logistics talent and technical education programs

The Dominican Republic’s Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA) signed a collaboration agreement with the Instituto Tecnológico de Las Américas (ITLA) to award 50 scholarships for the new Smart Logistics career. DGA director Nelson Arroyo said the pact is “an investment directly in the development of our human capital” and will strengthen customs operations through technology and data‑driven logistics.

In Panama, the Instituto Nacional de Formación Profesional y Capacitación para el Desarrollo Humano (INADEH), the Ministry of the Presidency and the Instituto Técnico Superior Especializado (ITSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to train logistics‑sector personnel. The agreement outlines joint efforts to identify training needs, develop certification programs, update curricula and provide internships. INADEH director Yajaira Pitti described the initiative as a “significant step toward a training framework aligned with national development.”

Separately, INFOTEP director Maira Morla Pineda highlighted the strategic role of technical and vocational education in the Dominican Republic’s economic growth, emphasizing that “technical‑professional formation must become a pillar for competitiveness” as presented at the delivery of the National Consultation results to President Luis Abinader.
