Panama marine fuel sales rise 14.55% in July

Marine fuel sales in the interoceanic region of Panama saw a recovery in July, following two consecutive months of contraction. The volume of metric tons of fuel dispatched grew by 14.55%.

Ship services also returned to positive territory, with a 9.39% increase in vessels attended during July. Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) remained the primary commercial fuel, accounting for 64.5% of the total volume dispatched.

On the Pacific coast, fuel sales grew by 14.48%, representing 81% of the total sales in the interoceanic region. In contrast, the Atlantic coast recorded its third consecutive month of declining sales. This recovery coincides with improved performance in Panama Canal transits, which saw approximately 19 more vessels in July compared to the same month last year, marking the best July in four years.
