Panama Ministry of Health intensifies dengue control in Colón

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has intensified efforts to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the province of Colón, Panama, following a cumulative total of 1,444 reported dengue cases.

Vector control teams are focusing on priority areas to identify and eliminate breeding sites. The intervention includes community work and scheduled nebulization sessions in high-incidence sectors. According to regional health director Abraham Alvarado, the areas with the highest incidence rates are Puerto Pilón, Cristóbal Este, and Sabanitas.

Health officials are encouraging citizens to participate in prevention efforts by following the ‘10-minute rule,’ which involves weekly inspections, washing, and scrubbing water storage containers and tanks to prevent mosquito reproduction.
