Panama national football team begins Asian tour in India
The Panama national football team has arrived in Bengaluru, India, to begin an Asian tour consisting of three friendly matches. Led by head coach Thomas Christiansen, the initial group includes technical staff and local league players Marcos De León and Daivis Murillo.
The tour schedule includes a match against India on September 25, followed by a trip to Japan to face New Zealand on October 1. The tour will conclude on October 5 with a match against either Japan or Ecuador. Christiansen has indicated he intends to include seven to eight new names in the squad to prepare younger players.
In light of the tour, discussions have emerged regarding tactical shifts, specifically the potential use of a “double nine” (two strikers) formation. This debate has been fueled by the recent performance of José Fajardo, who has scored 11 goals in his current tournament with Universidad Católica.
