Panama National Police dismantle 59 gangs nationwide
Panamanian security authorities have reported significant progress in dismantling criminal organizations. Public Security Minister Frank Ábrego confirmed that the National Police have successfully neutralized 59 gangs, leaving 121 active groups operating across the country.
In the province of Panama West, law enforcement continues to target local criminal activity. A judge recently ordered the provisional detention and seizure of assets from a 44-year-old man linked to a gang operating in Puerto Caimito, La Chorrera. This group is reportedly involved in homicide, personal injury, illegal possession of firearms, and drug trafficking.
Police Director Jaime Fernández noted that 17 gang groups are currently active in Panama West, a figure that has risen compared to previous years. These developments follow several major operations, such as 'Operación Constancia' in 2025, aimed at disrupting gang networks and seizing illicit assets.
