Panama police seize 201 drug packages at Pacific port

Panamanian authorities seized 201 packages of suspected illicit substances concealed in the head of an articulated vehicle at a Pacific port terminal. The driver, a Panamanian national, was arrested and placed under the public prosecutor's authority for further investigation.

The operation follows earlier interceptions this year, including a March 20 seizure of 1,506 packages bound for Belgium and a March 24 seizure of 20 packages on a container traveling from Pisco (Peru) through Panama to Rotterdam. By the end of May 2026, a total of 43 tonnes of illicit substances had been confiscated at Panama's Pacific ports, prompting the National Police to tighten security and logistics controls at maritime facilities.
