Panama prepares for international rural development course
Panama's Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) is preparing instructors for the III International Capacity Development Course for the Application of the Life Improvement Approach (EMV). The training session for the Rural Development Directorate was led by Sakayo Wada, an international expert from Japan with extensive experience working with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Panamanian rural communities.
The training focused on four key themes adapted to the local context: fostering self-managed individuals, participatory facilitation, measuring both tangible and intangible community changes, and setting long-term transformation goals.
Scheduled for October, the international course will host scholars from 10 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. Participants will conduct field visits to observe the impact of the EMV methodology in Panamanian rural families, including the development of sustainable projects such as home gardens.
