Panama prosecutors secure multiple provisional detentions

The Attorney General's Office (PGN) in Panama has secured several provisional detentions following various criminal investigations across the country.

In a major corruption case, a man was detained for alleged organized crime and corruption involving the General Directorate of Revenues (DGI). The investigation, dating back to 2023, involves allegations that the suspect paid public officials to manipulate tax platforms, resulting in losses exceeding $21 million.

Other recent judicial actions include:

• In Penonomé, a 26-year-old man was detained for domestic violence and breaching protection orders against his partner.

• In San Miguelito, a man faces detention for attempted homicide after a shooting incident near a school that targeted a young woman and a minor.

• In David, a man was detained for attempted aggravated theft after allegedly damaging air conditioning infrastructure at a medical center.
