Panama residents hold bicycle ride to protest US blockade of Cuba

Cuban diplomats and residents in Panama organized a bicycle ride to protest the United States economic blockade against Cuba. Led by Ambassador Orestes Pérez, the peaceful event was part of monthly solidarity mobilizations held on the last Sunday of each month.

The activity also served to conclude a campaign to collect school supplies for Cuban children. Through the efforts of various Panamanian labor unions, political parties, and businesses, approximately 80 boxes containing thousands of notebooks and pencils were gathered to be sent to the island to support the upcoming school year.

Participants used the event to call for an end to the unilateral restrictions, which Cuban officials claim have caused severe damage to essential sectors, including public health, medical supply availability, and electricity generation due to fuel shortages.
