Panama seeks to become a regional medical research hub
Panama is seeking to establish itself as a regional hub for medical research and scientific development. Acting Health Minister Manuel Zambrano Chang emphasized that the country possesses the necessary conditions to foster scientific inquiry and generate knowledge to address unmet health needs.
During the inauguration of the VI Clinical Conference of the Latin American Lymphoproliferative Study Group (GELL), Zambrano Chang noted that Panama’s ethnic diversity provides a favorable environment for research at all levels. He stressed the importance of creating a collaborative framework between public institutions, private companies, and health-related foundations to expand scientific opportunities.
Dr. Linet López, president of the Panamanian Hematology Society, highlighted the conference as a vital inter-institutional space for medical professionals in the region to share experiences and promote collective learning. The event focuses on scientific updates regarding the diagnosis and treatment of lymphoproliferative diseases.
