Panama strengthens tourism sector with new financing and insurance
Panama is implementing new measures to bolster its tourism sector. Microserfin and the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) have entered a cooperation agreement to provide technical assistance and expanded financing to tourism entrepreneurs, aiming to close knowledge and credit gaps within the industry.
Additionally, the Panamanian government has launched a no-cost tourist insurance program for international visitors. Funded by a B/. 3,500,000.00 credit approved by the Cabinet Council, the policy provides automatic medical and hospital coverage for the first 10 days of a traveler's stay. The program, administered by Compañía Internacional de Seguros, S.A., covers emergencies, medical evacuation, and repatriation for eligible visitors up to 86 years of age.
