Panama trains 48 youths for first agro‑employment program

Forty‑eight young people from the province of Darién took part in a training session organized by Panama's Ministry of Labor and Development Labor (Mitradel) at the University of Panama’s Tortí extension. The workshop prepares participants for the government‑led "Mi Primer Empleo Agro" initiative, which aims to place youth aged 17‑24 in their first formal jobs in the agricultural sector.

The program, part of the Plan Panamá Pa´Tí, targets 2,000 employment slots and already reports strong interest from producers and young people in several provinces. Beneficiaries receive a monthly subsidy of $300 for three months of paid internship, with the employer covering the remainder up to the minimum wage.
