Panamanian agencies initiate seniority bonus payments for former officials

Panamanian government entities are initiating processes to pay seniority bonuses (prima de antigüedad) to former public servants.

The Alcaldía de Panamá has outlined requirements for former municipal employees to request these payments. Applicants must submit a formal letter to the Human Resources Director including their full name, ID number, and updated contact information, such as telephone and email. The process involves several stages, including verification, budgetary validation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Comptroller General, and final execution. The estimated timeframe for completion is up to six months, depending on budget availability and inter-institutional coordination.

Similarly, the Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) is working to settle outstanding seniority bonuses for former employees dating back to 2014, following directives from President José Raúl Mulino. Former staff members are urged to update their personal data and contact information. Documentation can be submitted at the Human Resources Office, regional offices, or via official email. In cases involving deceased former employees, family members must provide legal succession documentation through the Judicial Branch.
