Panamanian health authorities conduct inspections in Portobelo

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) in Colón, Panama, conducted inspections in Portobelo ahead of the Cristo Negro celebrations. During the operation, officials identified several irregularities, including spoiled food products, food handlers lacking sanitary permits, and vendors failing to meet proper clothing requirements.

Abraham Alvarado, the regional director of Minsa in Colón, stated that the actions aim to protect the population attending the religious activities and ensure food safety. The operation resulted in recommendations, citations, and sanctions for merchants who failed to comply with established regulations. Authorities also removed products deemed unfit for human consumption from both permanent businesses and mobile stalls.
