Panama's Bocas del Toro road reopened after landslide
A large landslide in the Willie Masu sector of Bocas del Toro blocked both lanes of the main highway linking the province with the rest of Panama, cutting off traffic for about seven hours. The slide moved tons of material onto the road, stranding dozens of drivers and passengers.
The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), the National Police, the Benemérito Fire Corps and other agencies deployed heavy machinery, cleared debris and restored one lane by late afternoon, later reopening the full route. Authorities continued monitoring the area, repaired damaged fiber‑optic cables, and urged motorists to exercise extreme caution in landslide‑prone zones, especially during rainy periods.
