Panama's Darién Rainforest Attracts Visitors with Day and Night Jungle Tours

The Darién province, Panama's largest region covering 11,896 km², is home to the Darién National Park – the biggest protected area in Central America. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 and a Biosphere Reserve in 1982, the park safeguards more than two‑thirds of the country's flora and fauna, including jaguars, harpy eagles, tapirs and over 540 bird species.

Guided night‑jungle experiences have been launched near Panama City in Gamboa, offering small‑group walks through tropical forest trails after dark. Participants can hear nocturnal wildlife, spot frogs, sloths, reptiles and other species, and capture photographs under moonlight, all with the assistance of local natural‑history guides.

These initiatives highlight the region's ecological importance while promoting sustainable tourism that lets visitors explore the rainforest’s biodiversity both by day and by night.
