Panama's Ministry of Health holds tobacco prevention walk
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) held the 4th edition of the "A Todo Pulmón" walk at Cinta Costera 3 in Panama City to promote healthy lifestyles and raise awareness against tobacco and vaping.
During the event, a participant passed away following a diabetic complication. Minsa officials reported that the individual received immediate medical attention from event staff and paramedics on-site. Although the participant was stabilized and transported to Hospital Santo Tomás with vital signs, death was later confirmed at the hospital. Minsa expressed its condolences to the family but did not disclose the individual's identity.
The event, organized by the National Commission for Tobacco Control and the Health Promotion Directorate, featured a five-kilometer route. Health Minister Fernando Boyd Galindo emphasized the importance of physical activity for healthy aging and community education regarding nicotine addiction.
