Regional health officials in Veraguas confirmed a case of meningitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae. The Ministry of Health, together with the social security health system, immediately activated epidemiological investigation protocols, identified close contacts and urged vaccination to prevent further spread.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education reported irregular classes at the La Primavera school while a suspected viral meningitis case in a student is being evaluated. Education director María Pimentel said the school is awaiting test results from the health department and that authorities are coordinating preventive measures to protect students and staff.
