Panasonic Avionics expands Kadoma factory to boost production 6x
Panasonic Avionics, a member of the Panasonic Connect Group, has completed an expansion of its Kadoma factory in Osaka, Japan. The facility expansion aims to meet the rising demand for ‘Astrova’, the company’s next-generation in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.
The expansion increases the production capacity for Astrova by six times. The total factory area now exceeds 10,000 square meters, with production space expanded by 1.8 times and circuit board mounting lines doubled from two to four. Astrova features 4K OLED displays and integrates Wi-Fi connectivity, passenger device linking, and charging capabilities.
To date, Astrova has reached cumulative sales of over 500,000 seats, with orders from more than 45 airlines and over 150 installation programs. Panasonic expects that by March 2027, more than 3 million passengers per month will be utilizing the Astrova system.
