Panasonic Energy to debut V-Cell battery technology in Europe
Panasonic Energy will debut its V-Cell based Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery technology in Europe at the InnoTrans 2026 exhibition in Berlin. The technology, which has been utilized for years in Japan’s high-speed rail networks, is being introduced to the European railway market to support various rolling stock applications, including high-speed trains, trams, and low-floor vehicles.
The V-Cell features a lightweight, space-saving design and high energy density intended to meet the constraints of high-speed train operations. The battery modules are designed to be maintenance-free, requiring no electrolyte refills. Additional integrated features include a built-in Battery Management Unit (BMU) providing life prediction, communication functions, and an LED display.
