Panasonic Energy to release USB Type-C rapid charger for Eneloop batteries

Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. has announced the upcoming release of a new rapid charger compatible with Eneloop rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries. Scheduled for release in late October 2026, the charger features USB Type-C input, allowing users to charge batteries using standard USB-C cables and AC adapters without needing to plug the device directly into a wall outlet.

The product line includes the standalone charger (model BQ-CCE5) and sets that include either AA or AAA Eneloop standard model batteries. The charger is capable of rapidly charging two AA batteries in approximately 1.5 hours when used with an AC adapter providing an output of 2.0 A or higher. It also includes advanced sensing functions such as remaining capacity checks, replacement timing diagnostics, and smart charging capabilities to manage battery health.
