Panasonic recalls 11,480 toaster ovens in US and Canada over shock/fire risk

Panasonic is recalling 11,480 NB-G200 electric toaster ovens sold in the United States and an additional 2,184 units distributed in Canada after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned the appliances could pose a shock or fire hazard. The recall cites a faulty cord covering; a fiberglass sleeve may not adequately protect the power‑cord insulation, creating a risk of electric shock or kitchen fire.

The appliances, stainless‑steel models with a front‑mounted Panasonic logo and a bottom temperature knob, were imported from China and sold online between October 2024 and April 2026 for about $170. The CPSC received four complaints of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report of a non‑functioning oven, but no injuries or fires have been reported.

Consumers are advised to stop using the ovens immediately, verify the model number NB‑G200, and refrain from plugging the unit back in. Panasonic will provide a full refund through a dedicated link on its website.
