Panasonic TOUGHBOOK enables mobile private 5G networks

Panasonic TOUGHBOOK has introduced a solution for establishing mobile private 5G networks, referred to as ‘Mobile 5G Bubbles’, designed for security-critical missions and industrial applications. Using the Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 40 running a Linux operating system, the device acts as a mobile 5G core.

This infrastructure allows for the creation of independent communication networks that do not rely on public mobile networks. The system supports the transmission of voice, data, video, and sensor data, providing operators with control over access rights, data streams, and network capacity. The solution is intended for use in scenarios such as large-scale events, disaster relief, military operations, and temporary industrial projects where reliable real-time communication and a complete situational overview are essential.

In Germany, the operation of these networks requires frequency allocation from the Bundesnetzagentur. The system can be deployed in various mobilization stages, ranging from portable backpack units to mobile command centers, and supports high-speed 4G and 5G, including 5G Standalone.
