Panathinaikos appeals Cyril Deser's three-match suspension

Panathinaikos has appealed a three-match suspension handed to Nigerian striker Cyril Deser following a direct red card during a match against PAOK. The disciplinary hearing took place on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, before the Hellenic Football Federation's disciplinary committee.

The club's defense argues that the incident involving player Michailidis was not an act of violence, but rather a momentary push intended to help Deser secure a better position on the field. Panathinaikos highlighted that the official match report described the action as ‘violent conduct’ rather than ‘assault,’ a distinction they claim is supported by video evidence.

The club is seeking to have the penalty reduced from three matches to one. A decision is expected to be announced shortly, with a deadline of Friday at the latest.
