Željko Obradović leads Panathinaikos quest for Branko Badio and Djole Bolomboj
After returning as head coach, Željko Obradović has set Panathinaikos on an aggressive rebuilding plan for the 2026‑27 EuroLeague season. The club has already secured Mustafa Fal and is now targeting two high‑profile players.
The first target is Senegalese forward Branko Badio, currently under contract with Spanish side Valencia. Panathinaikos is prepared to meet Valencia’s €1.5 million release clause and has offered a three‑year deal worth roughly €5 million. The second target is centre Djole Bolomboj, a free agent after his contract with Red Star (Crvena zvezda) expired. Obradović sees Bolomboj forming a dominant tandem with Fal in the paint.
Negotiations are ongoing, with other EuroLeague clubs also expressing interest in both players. In parallel, Obradović attended a coaching clinic in Belgrade, paying tribute to late Serbian coaches Duško Vujošević and Edin Avdić, underscoring his lasting influence on regional basketball.
