Panathinaikos demands resignations of KED and EOK members

Panathinaikos BC has formally requested the immediate resignation of all members of the Central Referees Committee (KED) and the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) during a meeting of the ESAKE Board of Directors. The demand follows a major basketball scandal involving allegations of fixed matches.

Stavros Dinos, COO of Panathinaikos, and club lawyer Evangelos Desypri represented the organization. Dinos argued that while the continued presence of these officials might be legal, it is unethical. He highlighted that the President of EOK and two members of KED have been arrested, while others are reportedly acting as defense witnesses for those detained. Dinos questioned the integrity of the process for appointing referees for upcoming matches under these circumstances.

Furthermore, Panathinaikos stated it will not participate in any joint ESAKE announcements if the content does not fully reflect the club’s firm stance regarding the recent developments.
