Panathinaikos Nears Deal for Danish Defender Victor Kristiansen

Greek club Panathinaikos is in advanced talks with England's Leicester City to acquire 23‑year‑old left‑back Victor Kristiansen. The clubs have agreed on a season‑long loan with a €500,000 fee and an option to purchase for just over €4 million, contingent on the player featuring for at least 45 minutes in half of the team’s matches.

Kristiansen is undergoing final medical examinations at a specialist centre in Italy. If the tests are successful, the loan is expected to be completed early next week, allowing the Danish international to join Panathinaikos under head coach Jacob Neestrup. The negotiations have moved from an initial demand for a full transfer to a more flexible loan‑with‑option structure, with Leicester reportedly becoming more amenable after weeks of discussion.

Panathinaikos has also been linked with other left‑back targets, such as Rick van Driessen, but the Kristiansen deal remains the focal point of the club’s defensive reinforcement plans for the 2026/27 season.
