Panathinaikos offers €10 million to rehire coach Zeljko Obradovic

Greek basketball club Panathinaikos, currently competing for the domestic championship, is reported to have submitted a two‑year, €10 million proposal to veteran Serbian coach Zeljko Obradovic. The offer, described by Serbian outlet Meridian Sport as a “mammoth” deal, would be the most lucrative coaching contract in the club’s history and among the highest in European basketball. Obradovic, who led Panathinaikos to five EuroLeague titles between 1999 and 2012, left Partizan in November due to financial issues and has also been linked with Barcelona. While the report has not been confirmed by Greek sources, the potential return of the legendary coach would represent a major shift in the EuroLeague power balance.

The proposal is seen as a strategic move by Panathinaikos to maintain momentum after recent successes, aiming to secure a coach who embodies a historic era for the club.
