Panathinaikos reaches agreement to sign Azzedine Ounahi from Girona

Panathinaikos has reached a verbal agreement to re-sign Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi from Girona FC. The deal marks the most expensive transfer in the history of the Greek club, with reported costs reaching approximately €14 million to €16 million, including bonuses and a potential sell-on percentage.

Negotiations initially faced hurdles as Girona sought a permanent transfer valued near €20 million, while Panathinaikos initially proposed a loan with an obligatory purchase option. However, a final agreement has been reached, allowing the 26-year-old to return to Athens following his successful loan spell with the club during the 2024-2025 season.

Ounahi is expected to receive the highest salary in the Panathinaikos squad, with annual earnings estimated around €3.5 million to €3.6 million. The club is moving quickly to finalize the administrative procedures and medical examinations to ensure the player is registered in time for their UEFA Conference League campaign.
