Panathinaikos ramps up summer signings as transfer spending climbs
Greek champion Panathinaikos has completed nine incoming transfers this summer, paying fees for all but one free‑agent acquisition. Reported outlays include €5 million for defender Fan Drogelen, €4 million each for midfielders Kamaras and Kanguoa, €3.5 million for Rooster, €3 million each for goalkeeper Pénia and forward Tsapras, €2.7 million for loan‑fee Zaruari, €1 million for forward Sechou, and €470 000 loan fee for Christensen.
The club’s sporting director says the remaining targets focus on a creative central midfielder – the “number 8” role – and a quality attacker on the right side. Management stresses that the goal is not merely to add depth but to finalize a summer plan that can shift the competitive balance in the 2026/27 Greek league season.
